Rīga – Salaspils
The total area of the this garden area is 4,348 km². The area underwent extensive changes in the 1960s, when the industrial companies Latvenergo, VEF and other horticultural cooperatives allocated small garden areas to their employees. Workers began building wooden cottages with backyard gardens, fruit trees and shrubs. The lack of bustle of the city center and the close proximity to nature made the area attractive to more than one family. Here you can also find the name of the toponym of the neighborhood. Recently, the construction of private mansions has been observed in the neighborhood, their large dimensions disharmony with the small plots of land created in the area in the past.
