Strenči Evangelical Lutheran Churc

Turna – Strenči

Church
Baznicas Street 2, Strenči
Object description

The church was built in 1907 and blessed on December 9th of the same year. In 1935 the church was in a very poor condition; the tower was even threatened with decay. In 1936, the tower was rebuilt as well as the exterior and interior finishing of the entire building. The church is part of a national romanticism architecture that developed within the framework of the Art Noveau. For this architectural style, the first is the shape of church windows and doorways, but a particularly expressive effect of national romanticism is seen in the interior of the church, where Christian and ethnographic symbols are combined in ornamental paint.
In the church you can see the painting of I. Zeberins “Christ and Peter on the Sea.”
Can use the opportunity to look at the city through the windows of the church tower.
