Object description

Built in the 13th century, probably, on a place where once a Latgallian castle stood. There are no   information about the initial looks of the fortification. Since the 13th century Valmiera has been devastated for several times. In 1702 both the city and the castle burnt down, therefore, only castle ruins have remained until nowadays.
Today in the territory of the ruins you can visit Valmiera Museum and its exhibition hall, as well as Beverīna craft shop, where you can buy some skilled craftsmen’s products as souvenirs from the trip.
