Updates for the 2026 Season
As we prepare for the 2026 season, the waymarking of the Latvian St. James Way has been reviewed and improved. Pilgrim accommodations have been surveyed, and the information about them has been updated. Some changes have also been introduced to the Camino Latvia route itself.
Stage 2 – Turna to Strenči
Due to road improvement works in the Seda bog, walking along the bog trails may be difficult and potentially unsafe. During the construction period, some waymarks may also be missing. For this reason, we ask pilgrims to choose an alternative route from Jērcēni to Strenči, following safe gravel roads past the Jērcēni Stone. This stage is shorter, well-marked, and can be completed without navigation. The route description is available in the stage information. Unfortunately, GPX or KML tracks are not available.
Stage 24 – Brukna to Skaistkalne
The old bridge on the Bārbele–Skaistkalne route has collapsed. A new route has been created and waymarked here, passing by the Bārbele sulphur spring. The route description is available in the stage information, and GPX and KML tracks can also be found there.
We would also like to remind you that everyone who has completed the Latvian St. James Way and can present a pilgrim passport with stamps has the opportunity to receive the official Camino Latvia Certificate. More detailed information can be found in the “Information” section of our website.
Buen Camino!
