Aritz (Spain) story

The way I knew the existence of this wonderful way was by chance. In 2022 I was in one albergue in Camino del Norte in Spain when I saw for the first time a sticker of Camino Latvia. Later along the way, I saw a few more that Rita had left shortly before me ( liels paldies Rita! 🙂 ).
After making some Saint James Ways in France and Spain (sometimes too crowded) I felt myself motivated by walking in the Baltic countries. Only 1 year later I was in Estonia and followed by the good experience, between June 2025 from Valka to Riga and April 2026 from Riga to Skaistkalne I have enjoyed discovering Latvia. Preparing the way was easy due to your website, full of useful information. So, only travelling there was left.
To be honest I must say that I enjoyed since the first moment, really beautiful landscapes, solitude, very far away from some crowded Caminos in Spain and welcoming people everywhere ready to help you at any moment.
As in Barbele, when a worker of the Aibe supermarket telephoned to the Open Air museum and carried me there. Later on I realised the museum was closed that day, but despite of it they opened it to me and offered me a nice guided visit.
Sleeping in hostels, campings, manors and even in guest houses. Like in Vangazi, sharing a great evening and meal in Tiltinsili house with Ms Rota and her family, Janis, Tom, David, Laura and also the company of family’s friend Aldis and making me feel like a member of the family. A couple of examples about what I founded in Latvia every single day.
During the stages every detail is carefully crafted and the way fully marked and regularly checked as well as described on the web page. Just in that situation is how I could knew Rita and Kristine personally while I was walking to Brukna. A nice way to finish my Camino.
Personally really happy to make Camino Latvia, it really worth. ” Liels paldies jums visiem, ka padarījāt manu pieredzi Latvijā neaizmirstamu! ”
