Romea Strata – an officially certified route
We are delighted and proud that the partner organization of the Association of St. James Way in Latvia, the international pilgrimage and culture itinerary Romea Strata has been officially certified as the Culture Route of the Council of Europe. Romea Strata traverses seven countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria and Italy) running along the ancient trade and pilgrimage routes from the coasts of the Baltic sea to Rome. Today, the path unveils layers of history, culture, religious experience, and knowledge, inviting a step by step discovery on foot, and fostering the apprecition of the common European cultural and spiritual heritage and shared identity.
On the territory of Latvia, Romea Strata coincides with the Valka – Rīga – Skaistkalne branch of the Way of St James, following Camino Latvia signposting and the topical information on the website.
