On June 4, 2019 St. James Roman Catholic Cathedral in Riga was the site of a festive event – the blessing of St. James Way in Latvia. At an ecumenical service the archbishop of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jānis Vanags and the assistant bishop of the Riga Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Latvia, Andris Kravalis gave official blessing to the Association of St. James Way in Latvia to work out the Latvian stage of the international St. James Way. They blessed also the Camino Latvia flag and the plaque which will be placed on the border of Estonia and Latvia to mark the beginning of St. James Way on the territory of Latvia.
