Object description
Pekas hillfort is historically important for Kauguri rural territory as well as whole Beverīna municipality. It is the only ancient Latvian hillfort in the area.
Historically hillfort has been inhabited from X – XIII century, as well as in the medieval times. Pekas hillfort is the possible place where the mighty Beverina castle, that was burnt down in 1216, used to be.
