Camino Latvia – Camino Estonia
St. Jame`s Way runs through all European countries with a destination in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, where the distance from Latvia is 4,420 km if measured from Riga.
We are part of the St. Jame’s Way and we are part of the Baltic States, where St. Jame’s Way is also winding neighbourly. To identify ourselves as part of the Baltic, we made Camino Estonia stages from Parnu Jaagupi to Valka on bicycles in 2023. This year we carried out a cycling expedition from Tallinn to Ainazi – 10 stages, totalling 260km.
This trip took place in close cooperation with Velokurjers Ltd, which provided technical base and accompanying transport. Thank you to the https://caminoestonia.com/eesti- jaakobitee for the recommendations on accommodation, as a group of 14 people should look for them in a special way.
There`s no better way to get to know the Earth than by measuring it by foot or bike, because it ends up in places you can`t otherwise get to. Every day we started with gratitude for the special place we got to, for the company on the road, for the people we met on the road, the apples left at the roadside, the places we experienced, and the moments.
This road, of course, was also challenging, having to cross sandy roads and nettle-overgrown trails, rivers and marsh boats by bicycle. And it all reminded us that it`s a pilgrimage in which we strengthen mentally and physically.
Gratitude to God for absolutely fantastic weather all along the road that was kind of made for cycling. And for protecting us and our bikes to get everyone back home hi and healthy.
This was an emotionally fulfilling and invigorating ride for flesh and soul.
